I didn't fail Finance! I got a B after some miracle occurred (or perhaps just approx. 30 hours of all-work-and-no-fun) and I got a 96 on the Final. Wooo ( Read more... )

Sorry about Marketing :(. I *hate* when profs are so picky about scheduling. I understand if you were days late, but I'm sorry... if what you turned in was quality work, it seems really unfair to dock you by that much for like 10 minutes or whatever.

I've been super lucky with my professors so far. If I've turned in assignments late, I've usually asked beforehand, but they've all been cool about it. I've also had 3 professors let me take exams late without any issue.

Your situation reminds me of the one C I got in college my first time through. I can't remember if I told you the details of that, but my prof had an attendance policy that stated that if we missed more than 5 days of class (the class met 1hr/day M-F for 10 weeks), we'd drop a letter grade.

I was working on a play that had a matinee for the local elementary schools and it lasted a week. That's 5 days. I *never* miss classes and it was near the end of the quarter, so I figured I'd be safe. I explained the situation to him in advance and set up tutoring with a classmate who took notes and even two of this professor's grad students. I got an A on the test following the week I missed, so I feel like I made up for days missed.

So... all was well, since I was still within the 5 day limit. Well, the following week, my grandfather died. I missed one more day to go to his funeral. I talked to the professor, I gave him a note from my parents, and I offered the obituary and/or program to prove the legitimacy. He didn't care. He said that a rule is a rule, so I went from an 89 (Soooo close to an A) to a 79... a C. My only one. I think that made the difference between graduating magna cum laude and summa cum laude. Grrr!

Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed and send you positive vibes for the rest of your classes!

Thankfully this semester, I didn't end up with the B I was afraid of, but I did get an A-. I didn't even know that was possible, but apparently it is. A- is still good, but I did have a 4.0 and I think that may be necessary to get into UT. I still have 6 more classes, so I'm hopeful that I can bring my GPA back up to almost 4.0.

I know it seems lame to complain to you about not having a 4.0 when you're worried about getting C's, but it really could make the difference between being accepted at UT or not, since they're so competitive.

Oh... and you should *not* feel bad about yourself because of goofy guys like that. He's the one with the issue, not you.

Also, it's better that you're wise and close poor matches than settle for less than you deserve!!

We should get dinner or lunch again before I leave. Not many days left (I leave Sunday), but we're both done with school for a bit! Woohoo! So, I figure we've got more time.

I'm having Mary and a coworker over to watch the Olympic Opening Ceremonies and eat pizza/snacks tonight, if you want to join. Yeah... I know that was last week, but we all missed it and I have it recorded. They're getting here at 7 and probably staying until it's over (11:30 or so). You're welcome to stop by for the whole thing or just for a bit, if you want. Give me a call if you want to come and need directions :). Otherwise, we can plan for another evening or Saturday if you have time.

Ok... enough rambling ;). Call if you wanna hang out.

I only just saw this message, but I wasn't up to anything last night anyway - hope you had fun!

I'm busy on Saturday, but I could do dinner tomorrow if you're free? Later is better, I want to go to the gym right after work. Or Sunday?

Your C story sucks! Ugh. Good work on the A-, I'm sure you can get the gpa back up! Mine is 3.17 right now, so bad. But I'm still in the program (that I know of), so yay for that!

Aww... I already have plans for Friday night and I'm leaving on Sunday morning :(. If you free up any time on Saturday, let me know. Otherwise, plan on seeing an invite to my b'day dinner in mid-September. I get back on the 13th. My b'day's the 16th. I'll probably try to get friends together at a restaurant between then and the following weekend.

You can pull the 3.17 back up, too, I'm sure!! Hang in there!! What are you taking Fall Semester?
