WWJD (What Would J'all Do?)

In early 2007 I dropped off an arc of Before/After at an independent book store near me. The person I spoke to was very excited, particularly since the story takes place in Cleveland, and also because I was the author. She asked me to sign it. We chatted. It was a nice experience for both of us, a) because she got to meet an author, and 2) it was ( Read more... )

I hear too many stories like this one. It's sad. These are BOOKSTORES! The people there should be at least mildly interested in books. My theory is that these ppl are jealous - they want to be writers but aren't. *hugs* You don't deserve such shoddy treatment. Mr. Pecker should get another job!

I vote for number 2.
I don't say number 1 because I wouldn't be able to totally leave it alone either.
I don't say number 3 because I have a crotchety co-worker, and even though I know she's crotchety, she's MY crotchety co-worker. No one else is allowed to diss her, even if she disses other people. If I think she's out of line, I tell her so myself. :)
I don't say number 4 because isn't it the same as number 1, for all intents and purposes?
If you go for number 2 and then it leads to number 3, so be it, but I'd tread lightly.
Sorry you had a bad experience, but can I just say how excited I am that you HAVE another ARC out?

You are so logical, Julie. :)

I'm tending toward # 2 myself. I'd just love for her to say, "Arc? What arc?" only so I can move onto # 3, haha.

Me: I have this new book out and wanted to drop off an arc for you.

YA BUYER: Are you going to be on TV or in the news?

Me: Uhhhhh, uhhhhh, HUH?

YA BUYER: If you're not going to be on the news or on TV, we really aren't interested in you.

Me: Uhhhhhh, uhhhhhhhhhhh, HUH?
