getting paid + bad-ass concert = good day (it's a simple equation, really)

so i thought this day was going to begin on a very sour note and then continue on into one huge ball of confusion (not unlike the anthrax song) and eventually end horribly, but it turned out quite well
my morning consisted of me waking up at 7:30 instead of 10 because my body likes to punish me like that every once in awhile and i then spent the next hour wandering meaninglessly between sleep-dom and wake-dom, creating insane scenerios and overthinking a lot of business that does not need to be overthought (mostly regarding girls, of course), then i finally get back to sleep, but still have to get up at 10 to go to work, which wasn't the happiest time of my entire life (work usually isn't anyway) and then my GM basically makes me stay until 7:30 which i thoroughly resented at the original onslaught of the news, but then realized it was just easy money and that i probably would not have done anything worthwhile at home anyway except take a nap, eat dinner, and play madden

so that takes me to the second half of the night, at first i thought cioffi was going to completely forget about the concert tonight that we were planning on going to, but he didn't, he was just a little late in realizing that it was tonight and it all worked out cause the concert was moved from dayton to montgomery and the band we wanted to see didn't start playing until at least 11 (at night, mind you), so we got there in time and it was cheap and it was awesome and we enjoyed ourselves and they (soilent green) kicked ass

the story behind their new album is pretty interesting actually because it took them four years to finally get a new album out because two of their band members died, the singer broke both his legs, and all this other stuff happened, so that's what gave them such motivation and drive to put out a new record and even though having to go through all of that stuff must suck, it's always situations like that where the best artwork and music seems to come from, not to mention they're from new orleans, which if you've been alive for the past week know that everything is completely annihilated down there, so i really felt bad for them cause they're so good, i tried to help out as best i could by coming to their shows and buying some merch and giving a few extra bucks to them, which is the best way to support something you love, especially music, if you truly like a band and their music, buy their cd and go to their concerts rather than downloading everything and getting everything for free because then at least the record company (and i'm speaking mostly about independent record companies) can have more money to introduce a lot more awesome bands and the band can receive some compensation for a job well done

that's what kills me about people who like independent music, if you're in with the indie scene or underground metal or any other small scene, support it completely, don't bullshit the artist and just get everything for free, it's good to check out new stuff via the internet, but buy the shit that you really like

well, that's enough for now, thank you soilent green and thank you to my past, present, and future readers
c-funk out

P.S. apparently me and cioffi and cioffi's friend nick are going to detroit to see a metal concert in november on a saturday, call us crazy, call us stupid, but dammit, we love our metal!!

P.P.S. i finished three books this summer, that's right, THREE!!!, and no, they didn't have pictures and yes, they were enjoyable

P.P.P.S. you know someone i would like to see in the near future? want a guess? her name starts with a "j" and she is ill (in a good way)
