hello friend, it's been too long...
when you don't write in this thing for over two months, where the hell do you even begin? my best guess? trying to cram two months of stuff into one entry. here's my gross attempt at remembering the important and semi-important events of late june through now. not necessarily in chronological order.
*my computer montior died. no replacement. went through massive internet withdrawal.
*i went to a fundraiser for a friends off-broadway production. sponsored by chivas-regal scotch. free drinks for all!
*i lived in a hotel for 6 weeks while repair work was being done on my house. slept on a ridiculously comfy queen size bed and had daily housekeeping.
*i was hospitalized TWICE during my stay there. one for alcohol related heart problems, one because i fell and had to get stitches in the back of my head.
*on the plus side, we got a laptop while we stayed there! resumed internet dependency.
*on the down side, i was told by my doctor to swear off alcohol for a month to see if my heart was still irritated and needed medication. so far, so good. less than a week left. party when im off the hook? lol j/k
*took two summer courses. aced them both, including creative writing, where my work was very well recieved. that made me feel good. mica was in my class. it was nice to have a familiar face there.
*played ONE show. with gatsby's american dream in west palm beach. didn't do as good as we could have, but it was still fun, and we met a drunk black man named "flippin' nigga george" who did SIX front flips in a row for us. he said he was in the guiness book of world records. he might have been embellishing a bit. still, DEFINITELY worth the trip.
*dannel turned 20. hung out, had fun. watched xavier johnny and george kick the shit out of some guy at revolver. he deserved it. i wonder if they ever got to see ashlee simpson.
*grew robust facial hair lol. shaved it last week, but not before giving myself a totally sweet handlebar mustache (well, kinda)
*made new friends at work, and lost old ones. c'est la norman brothers. RIP big d and eddie.
*went to some good shows, saw some good movies.
*started fall at fiu, seen a bunch of new faces like scud and bj, some older ones like solomon and kellen, and even people i dont see often like tyler and mike. man that kid joey is tall. i have a class with veronica, so thats cool. automatic person to sit next too.
i think that might be it.
im not gonna mention the hurricane because it's made almost everyone else's weekend just as boring as mine. whatever, at least i got out of work. it's the little victories you gotta savor...
oh yeah! our cd is being pressed, i heard it should be back by oct. 5th. ALSO, we have found a temporary drummer, so we should be practicing and playing again pretty soon! we have a bunch of good shows in october which im excited about. AAAAAAND we've been writing a bunch of new stuff which is sounding really really good and we'll be going back into recording as soon as we have enough material.
thats aboot it. i should probably post more often so shit like this doesn't happen lol. thank you flo for teaching me how to cut.
