So, as per this last response, I think we are basically arguing the same thing.
As to pipe smoking: No. No matter how many of my ancestors smoke, it does not put the desire to smoke in my blood. It may be as a result of something else in my blood (a tendency to enjoy stimulants or a predisposition to addiction. That is, of course, only in the case that these qualities favored my ancestors' ability to have more healthy offspring capable of survival. As a result, violent tendencies may be hard-coded into human genes, but War is not. That is an important distinction I was making after your first comment. So, namely, a predisposition to addiction may be in my genes, but Smoking a Pipe is not.
Finally, what I mean by "peace" alludes back to your comments on the Greeks being constantly at war. There is much war going on in the world, but for the first time in a long time (maybe ever), there are whole nations, areas, and even continents that have not known war on their land for a prolonged period of time. This notion was what first lead me down the road of contemplating all of this stuff: that, having lived my life entirely within the confines of peace, I cannot know what war is or is like.
