Farscape Holiday Drabble - Silver Bells

Dec 24, 2007 15:26

I was afraid I wouldn't get inspired in time, but fortunately the muse was feeling generous today.

For
boofadil, who requested "Aeryn & Olivia, bells".  A touch long, at about 130 words.

Silver Bells

"What is the purpose of these noise-makers?" Aeryn asked, holding up the latest baffling object from a box once filled to the brim with them.

Olivia rolled her eyes, careful not to let the Sebacean see.  Decorating the Christmas tree with an alien was something akin to doing so with a two-year-old.  "It's a bell," she answered, taking the silver angel ornament and placing it on the nearest empty branch.  "They're traditional at Christmas.  Bells were used to announce major events like births, and Christmas is the celebration of one of the most important births in our history."

Aeryn nodded, then reached down an picked another ornament from the box.  Olivia giggled at the sight of it, this time looking forward to John explaining the colorful object he'd made in Kindergarten.
