Fandom: Marvel.  Stingray/Sub-mariner.  K+ / G.  277 words.

It's not stalking. Not really.

---

I honestly don't know why I continue to do this.  I always end up getting angry or upset.  It's like a bad habit, an addiction that keeps calling me back.  Diane doesn't know.  I'm fine with that.  She wouldn't understand.  She thinks I'm working.

My eyes scan the ocean floor spread out before me in search for a flash of green, a twist of limbs, limbs that should not be so adept at ocean life yet thrive in this flowing environment.  A flash of movement to the left catches my eye.  I duck behind a nearby bed of coral, eyes quickly finding what has caused the disturbance.

A pang of jealousy flashes through me as I watch the Atlantean glide through the clear water, one kick of his feet sending him several more meters ahead.

No matter what I do I will never be able to be one with the ocean in the way that he is.  There will always be the thin shell of my suit separating me from the cool water around me, the restriction of human language keeping me from communicating with the glorious life around me.  So I watch, and dream that maybe one day there will be a way for me to join this beautiful world that we both love.

It's not stalking, not really.  Namor is a smart man, I'm sure he knows how often I watch him.  He never says anything, so I take it as permission to continue this lovely self torture.

For a second, I think I see his eyes flash in my direction and a small smile breaks my face.

No, I won't be stopping anytime soon.
