[ There's a few seconds of silence, and the really good of hearing might hear what sounds like a deep, steadying breath. Then someone starts to play the piano. They don't get very far, missing a note and coming to an abrupt stop a few seconds in. Pause. ]

U... um... Kazuki-kun and I... were going to have a concert. We were planning... but now he's ( Read more... )

kazuki-'sensei', piano lessons, voice, lack of confidence, nothing to see here just move along, the power of frieeeeendship, she'll keep trying

[ She didn't quite get all that was spoken but she can appreciate the music. ]

It is a gift in troubled times.

[ She's a little... "did I really just do that in front of everyone," so appreciates the use of text. ]

I still need to practice it more. I must have made a hundred mistakes... But, I guess it's the thought that counts, this time.

People would not notice the mistakes so much if you don't hesitate after them. They have their own beauty, it makes the song your own.

I know, I hesitate too much. Every time I do it, I think... [ Totally doesn't believe you. ] That's kind of you to say...

I have not heard much of that instrument. When I hear folk songs they are different every time, it reminds me of that.

It's a piano... I'm in the music club at school. I'm really not very good, though.

There are ways-really good pianists can play a song accurately, but put a lot of feeling and emotion in. The same song by two different people will sound very differently... with me, I just make a lot of mistakes.

Why does it matter if you are good or not? You should play more for your own joy as well.

So much thought into the music...there was never time for that. I like the drinking songs and songs about the mountains and birds.

I know that's true... and I do like to play, but... I think I'd like it more if I didn't make so many mistakes in front of everyone.

I guess you're from a pretty... far-back time, right? Those songs are nice, too.

Well...at least do not count your mistakes, such small mistakes you would count forever.

I never thought about that, 18th century, it would be far back I suppose. They are old comforts that I cannot let go of.

That's true...

Oh, you're right. I guess to you, it's not "far back," since you... live there. To me it's three hundred years...

Yes but even villages and towns are distant things usually, the year and date mattered little to me to begin with. It is strange to be with so many but...interesting perhaps.

Most people here do seem accustomed to cities.

That's true...

What was your home like, then?

My home...

Mountains and the sky as far as you can see. The air was thin because of the altitude, more rock than plants, not many animals either.

...It sounds pretty. In a really empty, desolate... in my head, it seems really pretty, somehow.
