A is for Atom

Plans, as they often do, changed.   I couldn't get any of the characters I wanted to write about cooperate so I ditched all my efforts and started anew.

A is for Atom

Atom was not cool. Had never been cool. Would never be cool. He was fine with that even if he blamed his parents. After all, parents who named their kids Atom, Micron and Quark would have no idea how to raise cool kids.

So, when Atom had lost a bet and ended up on stage before of thousands of people and tv cameras auditioning, he expected to be kicked off stage with boos and catcalls. He had not expected a standing ovation and an invitation to the next step in the competition.

Atom didn't know how to deal with people on the streets greeting him, congratulating him, telling him how awesome he was. He didn't know how to deal with people around the country, and the world thanks to youtube, knowing who he was.

Looking at the man walking beside him, fellow competitor turned boyfriend, Atom figured he'd learn how to deal.
