Yesterday I learned that from 1879 to 1884 a war was fought between Chile and the joint forces of Bolivia and Peru over who got to keep the most bat shit.
I understand that bat shit is useful stuff, but when you say it out loud it sounds like one of the dumbest things ever.
Chile whooped up, and got all the bat shit and saltpeter they will ever need.
