Oh I swear I never thought I would be posting about this.
So I watched (inadvertantly) the press conference today with the Donald and Miss California you know the one who is only in favor of "opposite" marriage. This came about because I had insomnia last night and in the mornings I need white noise to block out the noise I don't expect enough to sleep and as some of you know I tend to chose Morning Joe which then morphs into MSNBC news live if I sleep in. The key for me is it has to be interesting enough that I can fool myself into thinking that I am not going to sleep that I am just going to lay there, close my eyes and listen to the news for a bit. .... but I digress. (overused ellipse just for Wired)
Anyhow the thing that has me the most ranty although there is quite a bit that has me ranty about it was when Miss artifically breasted woman in too much make up claimed that she spoke from her heart and that the question from "Judge 8" (like we don't all know it was Perez Hilton) was part of some hidden political agenda. Really? You don't think that an openly gay man who is a RESIDENT of the state of which you carry the title might also be speaking from the heart in asking that question? Or is it actually part of your conservative agenda that things that YOU disagree with must be part of some radical agenda? And Please, like you couldn't guess with your cadre of "prep" people, make up artists, pageant representatives from CALIFORNIA! that that question might show up? Really? You are that niave to think that that there might not be questions based on news events? Like oh I dunno that HUGE battle in California over Proposition 8. None of your "team" guessed that even if it didn't show up at the pageant that it wouldn't be a question that MISS CALIFORNIA might get asked? Really?
Please... far better would have been to simply stick to the half of the answer that said you spoke from the heart about your personal beliefs and you understood that other people believe other things.
But the icing on the cake was when you went on AFTER filming the PSA for the Defense of Mariage people and then preached tolerance. Thise PSA's remove your ability to preach tolerance, tolerance is the "you have your beliefs not necessarily mine", not "come rally to the cause of traditional marriage".
