Achtzehn - [Voice/Action]

[It's a lazy Sunday afternoon and after lying on the couch with the journal flipped on his face for about ten minutes, Kurt really thinks he could use with some conversation time. It's not that his housemates are bad for that, but he knows how pesky he can be. Especially when he doesn't bother to actually... use doors. Or giving people a proper ( Read more... )

I've gotten that vibe from some of the people here. It's probably better not to make a big deal about it.

That vibe, huh? Like the same thing is happening to you?

I've got some suspicions along that line.

Right now, I'm thinking alternate dimensions.

Okay, but what if like... you were born in '86, but a girl you knew from home that was two years younger, is sixteen in the late nineties in another world? And not only that, but I'm twice her age there too.

In that case, it sounds like time travel might be involved somehow. I'm not really a scientist, but maybe something happened to alter the events of time somewhere in your world? [Perhaps some sort of retroactive continuity, for example.]

Alternatively, someone's just lying.

Dude, I may not have known this Jubilee long, but she wouldn't lie about something like this.

[And since she's a fellow X-Man, he doesn't appreciate the implication.]

[Yeah, he got the impression from rogue that you guys don't expect to be betrayed from within. It's probably going to kick them in the ass sooner or later.]

That doesn't mean she hasn't been lied to.

Convincing someone you were born and raised in the eighties would be pretty hard to pull off, dude.

Then Maybe you're right and it is a different universe thing.

[Yeah, Robin doesn't buy that. And, ultra-naive or not, right now Kurt's the closest thing he's got to having a bro here, via Beast Boy pre-approval. He needs someone looking out for him, so Robin's just going to have to look into stalking this Jubilee person.]

What else is different about your worlds?

[That's so very, very sad.]

Well, in her world, I never joined the X-Men. Which is totally whack, since I've got seniority over her.

[IS NOT. Friends are stupid.]

Think about it another way. If you hadn't joined, what would you be doing with yourself?

According to her? I'd be a monk. [He doesn't sound like he believes it.]

I mean according to you.

Well... I'd still be in Winzeldorf, I guess. [Hiding. Watching. No friends, just his foster parents. A sad, lonely life, like the one he had led until he joined the X-Men.]

Not really doing anything.

You can't just want nothing out of life. [Because if he did, it would be in the running for Most Tragic Backstory Robin's Ever Heard.] It could be she's just from a dimension where you didn't get to have the same chances you did.

And born twenty years earlier... maybe. I don't think I'd be a very good monk. I mean, I don't exactly have the look for one.
