[Kurt should probably be weirded out that Rogue, of all people, is in such a good mood. But he's not gonna get him down, because it's Valentine's! And what's a blue fuzzy elf to do but go around and spread some of his holiday affection? This is why he's prepared a box of chocolates, a single blue rose, and a card signed Kurt Wagner for all of his ( Read more... )

everyone is his valentine, *rogue, *anne shirley, [voice], *katara, *winry, *haruhi, where did he even get blue roses?, [action], *mitsuru

[ some modern trappings will never suit miss shirley. currently she is in her new room -- making her bed with a lovely quaint quilt that looks as though it probably could have been hand-made. anne prefers to assume that it was made my some kindly quilter and that its appearance in the store is fortuitous indeed.

her school books are piled neatly near her bedroom door, which is open. ]

[All too abruptly, Kurt appears in the frame of her door, leaning against it with one hand, the other on his hip. He has something special for her... hidden behind the wall with his tail.]

Hey Cordelia. Finally getting settled in?

Just about. [ she turns to face him with a bright smile. of course, anne is a morning person. ]

The view is so very fine from this window. [ anne tucks a corner of the quilt under the mattress. ] I would have to say that I am lucky to have it.

[Kurt looks up a bit towards the window. A view of the river is indeed quite a nice one to have. They really lucked out with this house.]

Well I wanted to make sure you had the best, yeah? I'm glad you like the new digs.

I don't think I've felt anything quite like this since my first week at Green Gables. [ it may not sound like it, kurt, but this means an awful lot. there is little else anne loves more than being accepted or welcomed. ]

Digs, though...[ she hesitates. to dig something is to understand it. so is he expressing joy at her...understanding? ]

[He really does know how she feels, though. He was like a little kid his first day in the Xavier Mansion. He'd never had ANYONE that accepted him outside his parents before that day.]

Digs. Where you crash now. Your pad! [He's doing this on purpose now. So he follows it up with:] Your home.

Your home. [ she smiles and approaches kurt in her doorway; she stoops to pick up her books. ] I suppose I should count myself very fortunate indeed to have two homes. Why, to go so long without one at all and then to gain Green Gables was miraculous enough. And to add another home? Surely, this is the best way of looking at it.

[ so many people griping about how luceti shan't be their home. the difference in anne is that she is so quick to see the perfectly lovely side of the whole issue. what young ex-orphan wouldn't delight to have not one, but two homes? ]

[Kurt already had two homes. The one with his parents and one in Bayville. What's a third one to him? He sees no harm in calling this place home. It doesn't mean he's choosing to stay here forever.]

Well you know what they say, yeah? Home is where you can hang your hat.

[But his cover might be blown soon, since she seems to be walking out of the room.]

Oh yeah, I got a little something for you.

Then it is a very good thing indeed that I keep my hat hung right here. [ which...is literal -- she reaches for a generously brimmed hat from the edge of a vanity mirror and pins it in place with ease and familiarity. ]

Oh? Something...? [ her curiousity is clear. she knows it to be valentine's but she has not expected this. ]

[Very clever, Anne. He pushes himself from the door frame and stands. His tail whips towards him and over his shoulder, depositing a heart-shaped box of chocolates, with a blue rose tucked under a ribbon.]

Here, these are for you.

[ f-for her? she smiles politely in that knee-jerk way that she has and reaches for the...oh. a flower?

anne's expression tightens. she tugs the gift (ungratefully) from kurt's tail. hadn't they just been friends? sure, there were those nice words about her hair and the game of pretend with mister flynn had been flattering, but... ]

[ she stares at the box in her hands. ] I cannot accept these, Kurt. [ she holds them back out to him. ]

[He blinks in surprise and takes them in hand, a little lost at her reaction.]

But they're just for you. See? [He tucks the flower back so he can see where he wrote Cordelia on the box.]

[ perhaps moving in had been a misstep? surely, she could already hear marilla's voice scolding her for the choice. by so readily agreeing to kurt's offer she may as well have opened herself up to such treatment. this makes her self-conscious. ]

Exactly. I don't feel that it is entirely appropriate for me to be your Valentine, Kurt. [ she wrings her hands but attempts to maintain as stern a disposition as possible. the concept isn't so horrific, but she has her reputation to think of; after all, why would someone give such a gift to more than just one person on such a holiday? though...kida had implied -- hmm. ]

[Uh oh. She's getting the wrong idea. He likes Anne, he really does, but not that much. He shakes his head and settles into a faint grin.]

You've got it all wrong, Anne. Follow me, let me show you something, okay?

[He starts walking towards his room. Hopefully she won't think it's indecent enough to look inside it.]

[ all wrong? perhaps -- oh, but being wrong could possibly be even worse than being right. either way, anne finds herself wishing she could shrink back and become a part of the wallpaper. is there a way to extract herself from this situation with poise?

with a soft cough and a nod, anne follows him down the hall. ]
