Um...what? LOL No...I started using the brace on my own accord. I'm not a fan of doctors and only go to them if something is broken or seriously infected.
He wanted to work all the way up my arm and neck because of how the affected nerve runs. I don't know the medical name of the nerve, but I do know that it is the nerve affected by carpal tunnel. I know this because when the numbness first started, it didn't affect my pinky finger. I did a bit of research, and sleeping with the brace really did help. Enough that I stopped wearing it for quite awhile. He said I have *golfers elbow* which according to him is opposite of *tennis elbow* He found big knots in my upper neck, my shoulder, all around my elbow and forearm, a bit toward my wrist, and in my thumb. And he's pretty much convinced of the tendonitis in the elbow. He babbled that I was "long overdue for this kind of work". I told him I was a mess...I don't think he believed me until he started poking around. He was amazed at how much pain I was in with him using so little pressure. I'd gotten a deep tissue massage once before in Florida. Granted, the girl was just finishing up school so she hadn't done hundreds of massages, but she mentioned that at that point, the only person she'd ever worked on that was in worse shape than me was a guy who had been playing softball for the past 20 years. LOL!!!
