What Hath Dog Wrought?
My housemate and I had the weekend off to bum around, so naturally we went to the mall. Did I ever mention that I hate malls? I hate malls. But I let him talk me into it and we went to a mall neither of us have been to. And we bought... a dog. The mall had an adopt-a-pet place run by a local shelter.
What did I do with the digital cam, anyway? I wanted to post pics of Sophie for you all, but haven't found the camera in all the excitement. Anyhoo, she's seven months, looks like a tiny German Shepherd but with border collie coloring, has a big German Shepherd bark, and is a puppy through-and-through. She does all the adorable big puppy things that everybody's puppy does, except this is MY puppy so she's uber-special when she does it. She loves to walk, and grabs her own leash so she can walk herself. Awwwww. She rides in the car REALLY well. She can drink out of the water fountains in the park. (Never, EVER drink out of those, people! You never know when some scuz has let their dog drink from them. Actually, she just licks the stream of water.) She chases raccoons and (unfortunately) my cockatiels. She got all scared and angry when she saw herself in the mirror and nearly barked herself hoarse. When I try to scrub the floor on hands and knees, she runs underneath me and tries to "help" by grabbing the scrub brush. She's just TOO cute. OTOH, she barks furiously at any man who enters the house, pulls on the leash badly, jumps up on us, and enjoys human chew toys. Fortunately, she's trainable with words, pets, treats, and a squirt bottle.
