Movies

I've been seeing a lot of movies lately, so I guess it's movie review time (for the ones I've seen in the last week or so):

The Village: A lot of people seemed to have been complaining about the ending to this, but I thought it was a neat twist. Admittedly, the plot leapt pretty far beyond reality, but it was an interesting idea, nonetheless. I'm not sure if any of M. Night Shyamalan's movies are what you could call 'fantastic,' and the scare-factor that's most present in "The Sixth Sense" and "signs" isn't exactly as big in this movie, but I still enjoyed it. I'd recommend it only if you don't care about spending the money...

Collateral: When I saw the first previews for this movie, I was expecting it to be mediocre, but that was not the case at all. Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise were very good in their respective roles and the movie moved along at a nice pace -- I can't remember anytime during the film that I was 'bored,' so to speak. There was also some pretty cool cinematography. I definitely recommend this movie.

The Manchurian Candidate: I never saw the original version, nor did I read the book, and so I had no idea what to expect of the re-make. The plot is interesting, albeit strange, and allows you to kind of "play along" in figuring out what the hell is going on. Denzel Washington gave a great performance as always, but at the end I was left uncertain of what to think. Overall, the movie was just decent, in my opinion, definitely not for everyone.

Yeah, so... that's about it. I'm going to a Dodger game tomorrow (or today, rather), so that'll be fun, and I really need to start more of the summer work that I don't want to do...
