Crap on a stick, I have never been so busy as I have been this past week. I'm trying, at present, to balance working two part-time jobs and keep ending up pulling 12-14 hour days between the two. I'm hoping this will even itself out now that I've more clearly defined my hours of availability with both Confection Perfection Bakery and Barnes and Noble.
I'm physically pretty exhausted as the bakery job is really physically intense. I know that the idea of making chocolate mousse doesn't seem that challenging but try this: Make a circle with your arms in front of your body. The bowl I make mousse in is about that big around at the rim. Gently fold egg whites and whipped cream into that for about 15 minutes and see if your arms don't feel like they're about to fall off at the shoulder.
Still, I love working at the bakery and while this week there were an unusually high number of hours for me, I have to hope they'll need me more again sometime soon. Hope hope hope.
In addition, the perks of working at BN are killer. 30% discount on purchases, 50% at the cafe, and I can borrow any hardcover book for 2 weeks like a freaking library. THANK YOU.
And even if it doesn't seem like a big deal that I have two whatever-retail jobs, it really is to me. So, no one wants to celebrate my employment. That's fine; at least everyone still likes it when I cook. I'll take it.
