So, job hunt time means I need to have a resume and cover letter fixed up and ready to send off. However, I'm really not sure what my cover letter should say, and the books I've found on the topic aren't really written for people fresh out of school.
So, if anyone reading this page has a moment to spare, just click on this link and read over my cover letter, and please give me feedback.
Thank you!

I would like to express my interest in obtaining a research position with your company. I will complete my bachelor's degree in May, and hope to relocate and begin work in July or August.
As you can see in my enclosed resume, I have a very strong academic background, as well as a significant amount of experience in chemistry research. I've worked in two very different lab environments, organic and computational, and have done well in both.
During my work with Dr. Partha Ray's group, I was involved in gram-scale synthesis of a novel anti-tumor agent. I was responsible for working from established preliminary steps to create desired intermediates, as well as the NMR and chromatographic analysis of each step in the process. I later presented a poster on our work at the regional meeting of the American Chemical Society in November of 2004.
For the last year I've worked with Dr. James Kindt's computational chemistry lab. I've been working on a project concerning the buckling properties of lipid bilayer systems. I am responsible for running and analyzing molecular dynamics simulations. I submitted a paper based on this work to the Emory Undergraduate Research Journal, and I am also preparing an honors thesis.
As I near the end of my college career, I would like to emphasize that I am very interested in the opportunities your company has to offer, and I am flexible in terms of location. I intend to relocate, at my own expense if necessary, to wherever is convenient to my eventual employer.
Thank you for taking the time to review my resume. I hope that you will find that my credentials are quite solid and that I might be a good fit with your organization. If you have any additional questions, or would like to request my references, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Gaulding
