Year in Review - 2012

Jan 31, 2013 14:44

It's Thursday afternoon. We're well into 2013. I'm still at work. And out of nowhere, I decide to blog about my 2012 resolutions.

I blame it on this chilly freeze and my bruised toe. Poor bruised toe and the possible loss of my toenail is making me moody and mopey. So, I decided that I would just stop working and be unproductive.

I was quite reluctant to look back on my 2012 resolutions. Mostly out of guilt, thinking I probably achieved nothing. However, when I finally did, I think I did alright:

1. Drink more water √  I own a huge cup at in the office. I make an effort to make sure I get enough fluids in my system throughout the day. However, my at-home routine still needs some work.

2. Regular health check-ups √  I don't know if I get "regular" check-ups but I will say the frequency I've been to the doctor in the past year has definitely increased. I consider this a good thing because I'm checking out problems and worries I've had over the years and addressing them wherever necessary. I've been hearing several cases of either friend's friend and more recently, a friend who's been diagnosed with cancer. Health is so important. Take care of it while you still can.

3. Sleeping early  √  I will consider this half a check mark. Since March, my macbook died and I was without a laptop for over half a year. Life without access to your own computer is a lot more productive. Stuff happens on the World Wide Web and you have no idea what. Therefore, you sleep early. The reason why it's half a checkmark is because in October, I got my laptop and it all went downhill from there, lol.

4. Blog more X  ummm. yeah. I made 2 posts last year.

5. Read and write Chinese X  I bought a Haruki Murakami short stories novel in Chinese. I have not read it yet.

6. Re-organize and familiarize myself with my finances √ I give myself half a checkmark for this. I've improved, but it can definitely be better.

7. Grammar X  Engrish anyone?

8. Re-organize LJ Tags X Yes, still a mess.

9. Get myself back into something fine arts-related  √ This is half a checkmark. During the summer, I was deciding between two courses to take: Painting or Animation. I decided animation.

10. Stay fit  √  I think compared to the start of 2012, I'm definitely a lot more active. Boxing classes last year, then badminton, and now, the beginning of the volleyball clinics (hence, my bruised toe). I can't wait til summer begins, and I've decided to take up running!

11. Try new recipes √  Yes, thanks to Pinterest, I think I'm all set and ready to be the ultimate housewife.

12. Start a new blog X  This did not happen. And I still have no idea what I want to blog about.

So, looking back, I don't think I failed as badly as I thought I had. 2013 is a new year, and the start of my "Countdown to 30" 3-Year Plan! Exciting!

自言自語, life things
