Female Role Models

Mar 01, 2007 14:15

This is something that has actually become a topic with several people I know online recently.  And I think it's an important one.  Today on MSN there was a headline on the front page about 10 women who make us cringe and 10 women who inspire us.

I think maybe all of us need to rethink who are role models are at one point in our lives, especially  those youngins who would do well to imitate the likes of Paris Hilton, The Bratz Dolls, and Ann Coulter (who the hell would imitate her?).  I think it needs passing on and saying more than twice.

10 Women Who Make Us Cringe.

10 Women Who Inspire Us.

Who would you say are good female role models?  I'd add to that list Maya Angelou, Kate Winslet, Katie Couric, Oprah (duh), Sarah Jessica Parker, Ali Hewson (Bono's Wife), Ani DiFranco, JK Rowling, Hilary Clinton, and Dr. Mae Jemison (First Black Female Astronaut).

"I speak without reservation from what i know and who i am. i do so with the understanding that all people should have the right to offer their voice to the chorus whether the result is harmony or dissonance, the worldsong is a colorless dirge without the differences that distinguish us, and it is that difference which should be celebrated not condemned. should any part of my music offend you, please do not close your ears to it. just take what you can use and go on."
