So im in this class called gender in society. I was thinking when i i signed up for it, that it would be about.. well.. gender in society.
turns out it's about how men are horrible and women are gods chosen creatures.
"men don't like to go to hospitals because they don't want to be weak. .like women."
if you feel as angry about this as I do you should post how you feel about this.. i intend to take these results to my instructor. she seems to think that were stuck in the 1050's and every time i try to explain to her that i don't know any men like the ones shes describing she tells me that shes just making generaliations. she tells me that the people i know are a small portion of america.
"men don't like their wives to drive because they don't want them to be in control."
anger anger anger.
my main point here is that shes not explaining gender, so much as furthering gender steriotypes. and what really gets me is that the other people in my class say things like "wow I never thought of that before, thats why my boyfriend/husband acts that way."
I'm just hoping if enough people give me some feedback I may have some hope of educating my cla'ss a little better than my teacher seems to be doing.
