I remember seeing a similiar poll several times, only without Franky. But still, it's rather pointless to say how sad, since if you're living it they're all pretty bad pasts.

[This is probably the third time I'm posting something like this. Only this time with a little of Franky and more of Robin.]

But still, if I had to pick one, I'd pick Robin. Living as a kid without being accepted is quite similiar to Chopper, even down to the fact that there were several people she's closer to but still faraway from. But then, 20 years of escaping the World Governmment, that's downright scary actually. And judging from the fact that this is the StrawHats and they're all relatively nice people, having to betray people again and again would hurt a lot.

Then again, Nami's been living under her enemy's care for 8 years, pretending to be one of them and ignoring her beloved town. While Robin could try to pull her distance as far as possible, Nami had to remain close to hers and face her worst nightmare day after day.

And there's Franky, who managed to find a way to live for himself, but still having to live with the guilt of killing his mentor and, not directly but still, escaping from the World Gov as well. And I think Sanji was pretty much abandoned by his own family, Usopp was orphaned at a young age, Zoro seemingly had no parents and someone close died too soon.

I would say the only person that seemed at ease at the age of seven would be Luffy. He had people around him, his grandfather at one time and Ace for a while, plus all the others in town. There's the Shanks incident too, but...well, Luffy's still more of a generally happy person, so it's unlikely he'll angst over it for long, even though he takes it deeply to heart.

Okay, I admit, all that was simply because I wanted to rant, and had nowhere else. That was a completely pointless post merely stating out everyone's past.

I don't know if being pursued by the World Government was really the worst part of it, though. I see Robin's tragedy as her inability to trust people: she spent 20 years running from one group to another, each used as a shield and discarded, reinforcing her belief that there is nobody she can trust to protect her, noone strong enough to help her survive by staying with her, only those strong enough to maybe slow down her pursuers.
