For the first time in quite a long while, I went on a holiday! The destination was Bangkok, Thailand. It had been many years since my last visit and I was looking forward to five full days of endless shopping. Everything was ridiculously cheap and I came home with enough clothes/bags/shoes to replace my wardrobe. Besides spending every Thai Baht I had on me, my little film camera had a glimpse of the exciting Bangkok landscape.
The results are interesting, making me grateful to use better film this time around (Fuji ISO 400). The camera still doesn't work well with low light conditions, but it does produce an effect on the photograph.
LJ kindof screws up the formatting, so i suggest heading over
here to get a better look without disturbing format errors.
I love the accidental inclusion of the family crossing the road. I only noticed the plane. Now this photograph tells quite a tale. (You can try playing "Guess what was PSed!" Because I Photoshopped a large water blob off the image. XD)
A closer look at the Singapore Airport Budget Terminal. I kind of like the ambiance, as it gives off an old 1970s type vibe. Or maybe it's just my imagination of aviation at that time.
Tiger Airways, the cheap way to fly. We were warned of delays, but we managed to get quite a fuss free ride.
It was an evening flight, so when we were in the sky, we managed to see the gorgeous sunset from above. It was truly beautiful and does not translate well on film.
Into Bangkok! This was taken from a BTS station. Personally, I think this picture turned out awesome. The huge building on the right of the picture is actually a block of expensive apartments, just next to a vacant lot that has gone to waste. But the photograph dull all the glamor then whole scene has a sort of cohesiveness rather than emphasizing the disparityl
The following pictures were taken from CentralWorld to Siam Paragon, a whole line of shopping malls where window shopping is preferred over actually buying of things.
Next, is Chinatown. It's the place to soak in the authentic "Chinatown", complete with huge billboards/signages and goldsmith shops on every corner.
The picture above is actually of a rundown movie theatre. It looks as if time has stopped for this place. No IMAX or surround sound audio systems here. Yet, you can catch delayed screenings of the latest movies here... if you dare step in.
Cameo appearance of my mom and dad in the street above.
Now let's take a look at the various modes of transport in Bangkok. There are tonnes of cars, taxis and motorcycles...
... the BTS or skytrains that link the city...
And of course, the infamous Tuk Tuks!
That concludes the first part of the picturelogue. I still have half a roll to develop. Using the Vivitar reminds me that today's obsession with crystal clear photographs is quite overrated. Maybe that is what holding me back from getting a new digital camera.
