Blessed with friends and love

Last night a planned casual shabbat dinner for two turned into a feast for eight (with others dropping by) when my roommate and I accidentally planned meals for the same night. It was really fun and sweet, and I feel how lucky I am to have a group of people it's easy to just be myself and have fun with.

Thursday was Zsuzsa's birthday 'party' at the nursing home. I had to miss a class and it's always kind of sad to go but there's something heartwarming about it too. It's also interesting to me that it's such a female dominated sphere. Like the really living parts of life, birth, age, loss, death, is a space that belongs to us (although it should belong to everybody, I'm glad that we are not afraid of it/protected from it the way many men are, whom I think must lead a kind of sheltered, limited life).

I dreamt about my mom last night and it was actually a really good dream (we weren't fighting!) and I woke up feeling happy and not sad or bereft (ok, just a little bereft). So right now I'm thinking that my life can maybe be full of love and friends and just, fullness, even though there are some things that aren't as I wish they would be.
