In all sense of the word it was impossible. How in the world was his dark side willing laying beside him?

Unbelievable

Link’s day started just like any other day he had. He was a very light sleeper when he camped out over the vast land that was Hyrule. You had to be, being continuously attacked by stalchildren did that to you. His latest adventure had ended in triumph, as always ganon was sealed away and Zelda was rescued. The pieces of the triforce were once again secured behind the door of time and peace was found in Hyrule. Such as it was he was returning to his home village of Kokiri, even though he had been presented with a room in the castle he declined it. He had been far from home since that whole majora’s mask incident, all he wanted was to return to his childhood friends.

Coming in from Termina was quite a ride and he settled just outside the icy zone of Snow Head where the mountain village was experiencing a blizzard. He had to go through Snow Head Mountain to reach Death Mountain which will take him into the smaller fields of Hyrule. It was true that he could have ridden further in, and camped in the Mountain Village, but he wasn’t one for cold weather. As he was packing up his supplies including his blanket, he noticed his horse’s discomfort, Epona had sensed something wrong. A loud yell had him turning to the mountain that was peaked with snow. Without a moment hesitation he was up on the back of Epona and racing into the mountain village.

His sky-blue eyes widened in confusion as the mountain village smith ran by yelling about the hero’s evil twin. Link knew that he was the hero that the smith was referring to, so who was his evil twin? Immediately as this question settled into his brain, he saw a flash of silver and black. His confusion ceased as his sky-blue eyes narrowed in distaste, he thought he had gotten rid of him. Flipping his long green hat out of his eye sight he drew out his bow and fired an arrow at the dark blur. Said blur stopped and sliced the arrow in half, and then turned to face him. Link sighed as he saw Dark Link opposite of him, was this the six or seventh time they had met? His long blond fell into his eyes to shadow them and he slowly drew the master sword.

Dark Link mirrored his movements while flipping his silverish-gray hair out of his red eyes. Link sighed again preparing to fight that could last for a while. Anxiously he flicked a glance at the sky hoping the waiting winter storm would hold off. Savagely they met each other in the middle of their impromptu battlefield. He then started a test of strength, which was pointless since they were equal.

After awhile the temperature dropped drastically and small flurries began surfing downward. Before long, the flurries became actual large snowflakes making their fighting hard to continue. The snow started melting into his green tunic and he looked to his counterpart. "Look, can we stop for right now?" He called to Dark Link hoping to talk sense to his dark half.

"No." The silver-haired youth yelled back, but there was an undisguised shiver.

"We will both die in this weather if we continue like this." Link stated, and just as he did the small storm turned into a category four blizzard. Dark Link finally lowered his sword and looked to Link in direction.

"So, now what?" He sneered out, and Link sighed.

"There is a small cave up over that cliff over there with a hot spring in the middle." Link informed him. Dark Link sheathed his sword and crossed his arms glaring at Link. Link did the same and began to lead the way keeping one wary ear on his other half. Climbing up the side of the cliff, he slid into the cave where he had laid rest to King Darunia the third’s soul. He heard Dark Link enter the cave as well, at least he had grabbed his pack off of Epona before sending her off.

"So, where’s this hot spring?" Dark Link’s chilling voice asked. Link merely said nothing and instead started pushing the King’s large tombstone. "I may be evil, but even I do not taunt the dead." Dark Link spoke, and then stopped when he heard a click. Link smiled slightly as the well spring of hot water came through. With a quick foot he was out of the water and stripping his boots off. Dark Link glanced at him curiously, but didn’t ask him whatever question he had, but he did get fidgety as Link tugged his shirt off. "What are you doing?" He asked. Link pointed to his open pack where his other two tunics were peeking out.

Quickly he slid back into the hot spring with his under leggings still on. Link then looked to his dark half with something akin to sympathy. "I have two tunics I can lend you one." He informed Dark Link. His goodwill was dashed as the darker hylian sneered at him while still shivering. Link shrugged and set to letting his body warm up before reaching for his blue zora tunic. Absently he noted that his red goran tunic had mysteriously vanished, but he said nothing just merely smiled as he slipped the blue tunic on. "I’m going to get some freshwater from the snow outside." Link informed Dark Link before stepping to the lip of the cave, trustingly leaving his back open.

Fishing one of the bottles out of his pocket he heard a small splash inside the cave. He smiled wider while setting the empty bottle just outside the cave mouth. It quickly filled and he repeated this process three more times. Then he fastened his blue eyes to the white wash outside the cave, and they weren’t going anywhere any time soon. His ears caught on another small splash and a rustle of clothing being shifted. Figuring it was safe to return to the center of the cave, he opted to say nothing to the now red clad dark hylian who glared at him daringly. "It’s a whiteout, which doesn’t look like it will be clearing up soon." Link informed him after a few tense moments.

"Now what, oh gracious one?" Dark Link asked mockingly. Link did a couple quick calculations while thanking his instincts to take his pack. He normally put his deku nuts, arrows, and such in it, which is needed for battle.

"Well, I have enough food that will last us until tomorrow evening." Link stated, and began pulling out some food items offering them to the darker one. Dark Link accepted the food, but didn’t offer any thanks in return. Link didn’t expect any and snacked on his portion while rolling out his blanket. Looking back at the darker hylian he slid to the opposite side of the cave and leaned his back against the wall. Then he laid his sword beside him and began slowly falling asleep, the blanket slipping a little.

Exhausted beyond the point of caring he fell asleep before his nemesis without pretense. He didn’t wake when Dark Link came over without his sword, and shivering for all he was worth. Though the hot springs was a good source of warmth, it did not generate enough heat to combat the cold air. Silently and gently he slid beside his lighter half and curled underneath the blanket against Link. Link only stirred a little to wrap an arm around Dark Link waist to make himself comfortable. Dark Link startled but slid both arms around Link’s waist offering warmth and receiving it.

Link’s conscious woke him in the middle of the night. Even though his was a hero and would normally give no quarter to those who chose evil, he did worry about them. Leaving his darker half shivering in the cold would not be good hero behavior and he just couldn’t do that anyway. Sighing, he made to get up and realized something was drastically wrong. His eyes sharpened so he could see in the dark, looking down he was pleasantly shocked. His dark half was unarmed, and laying willing beside him asleep. The whole situation was impossible. He would never figure that Dark Link would curl into him willing.

Kindly he tucked the open end of the blanket under Dark Link before laying back down. His eyes caught onto the fact that Dark Link had also not moved his weapon from his side. Link smiled at Dark Link and wrapped his other arm around the dark youth, chuckling a little when he snuggled into his side. His vibrations woke the dark one, who glanced at him fleetingly while making to move. "It’s all right, go back to sleep." Link soothed, the dark one blinked before relaxing back into Link’s side.

Link also relaxed back into Morpheus’s own a bright smile still on his face. It was Dark Link who woke first in the morning, glancing blearily at the whiteout that was dissipating slowly. His red eyes tracked back up to the sleeping blond and then switched to the outside again. Feeling the need to surrender his fight, he slid one arm further over Link’s chest and pulled the other open end of the blanket under the blond. He wasn’t aware of the blond watching him under slitted eyelids who merely smiled when Dark Link laid back down on his chest. He also never noticed the soothing hand that rested on his shoulder.

Link smiled brightly to the open cave, it may have been chilly in the cave, but it was definitely warm under this single blanket. It was nice to know that Dark Link had finally surrendered to him, and that he fully

trusted him now. Shifting slightly he let his left foot sneak out of the blanket and nudge the master sword away. He closed his eyes not noticing that Dark Link had caught his final actions. Links’ last thought as he fell asleep was quite an interesting one. ‘What am I going to tell Princess Zelda?’ He mused as he laid his chin on top of the darker one’s head.

Dark Link sighed and tucked Link back in since his kick to his sword had freed the blanket again. If he ever met Ganon or Agahnim again, they would want his head because he would go against them. Not to mention he was cuddling up to the enemy with a smile threatening to creep onto his face. However, he didn’t care, for once he felt like he belonged, trapped beneath this one blanket with his once nemesis of light. ‘It’s going to be interesting to see how he’s going to explain me to all the good guys.’ He mused and snuggled into the crook of the light one’s neck. A smile actually breaking out on his face instead of his dark smirk.

Fin.
