what i dont understand is how in 1999 when the Columbine school shooting occured, there was mass media coverage about it, and even at the age of 10 (a sheltered little fifth grader) i heard nothing but that for at least a month. but when the school shooting in minnesota happened just a couple days ago, i have only heard three things about it, three little, 2 minute blocks on the news about how a kid who was bullied at school killed his grand parents and stole his grandpa's guns and went into the school, killed the security gaurd, a teacher, and 5 students, then taking his own life. my philosophy about this occurence is resting between two ideas- either it is because the latest one happened in a poor indian reservation town and no one cares but when columbine happened it was in a wealthy white town~ or becasue america has seen so much drama in the past 6 years that they dont see this as big a deal as 9:11 or the war in iraq.

WELL HELLO AMERICA THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER- PEOPLE ARE BEING BULLIED ALL OVER- AND IT STARTS WITH THE YOUTH-- FUTURE AMERICA!

AND A LITTLE NOTE TO THE KIDS:
STOP BULLYING PEOPLE WHO YOU THINK ARE WEIRD OR DIFFERENT OR JUST AN EASY TARGET. BECAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT KNOW THEM FOR WHO THEY ARE IN THE FIRST PLACE WHICH MEANS TAHT YOU WONT KNOW IF THEY ARE GOING TO DO AN EXTREME-THE UNTHINKABLE.

i guess i dont really understand people anymore. it scares me to think that if this can happen in a poor town and a rich town that it is definitly a possiblity that it could happen in my boring town.

scary huh?
