itinerary

In a little over 2 days, I will be on my way to the airport. My mom will start crying and then I will start crying, and though it will be sad to leave, it hasn't all set in yet. Yes, I'm excited, and yes, I'm nervous, but until I get to the airport in Prague and get in that cab to take me to the hostel, the reality won't hit me. This morning I arranged transportation to my hostel - the drivers all speak English and give you tips on where to go and where not to go, how the public transportation works, etc. I had JU's dad notarize my power of attorney this morning so that my mom can sell my car. Mostly all I have left to do is pack. I have been horrible at returning calls from friends.

It's incredibly freeing knowing that I am only taking what will fit in a pack and a carry-on; later I will get my parents to send other clothes to me. I have been trying to get rid of stuff the last few months. I know people who are buying houses, and that boggles my mind. In part because I don't know yet where I want to end up or what I want to do with my life particularly yet, and also because I would be comfortable in a studio apartment with the amount of furniture, etc. that I have. In my last few apartments, I basically only had bedroom furniture and a futon. Also, I don't even know when my next paycheck is coming. To me, that's a bit unsettling. My mom and I were talking recently, and she said that if there is something that I really want, I usually get it. I do have a habit of getting excited about an idea and then not following through with it. This move just feels right, even though everything about it is up in the air at this point.

My itinerary (for the next month):

Leave Atlanta F 7/2 at 5:45 p.m.
Arrive in Paris S 7/3 at 8:15 a.m.
Arrive in Prague S 7/3 at 11:40 a.m.
Welcome dinner M 7/5 at 7:00 p.m.
First day of class T 7/6 at 11:00 a.m.
Last day of class F 7/30.

After that, who knows? I could be on a plane again in early August because I was too nervous to teach. I could have landed a job by late July somewhere in Europe.

prague, travel
