Filtered to Wardens

I'm allowing a lock to be installed on the walk-in fridge and possibly the pantry. I know a lot of people are going to piss and moan, so I'm going to compromise here:

I'm going to try and see to it that all wardens have a key.

I know it's not ideal, but this is a prison and we have a finite supply of food. Leaving it open to all and sundry has ( Read more... )

kitchen, warden

Maybe it would also help to have a separate area of the kitchen for food that can be taken. That way, you always have essential food locked away from all but kitchen staff and the "superfluous" food elsewhere, locked to inmates.

Not a bad idea. If everyone can come to an agreement about what's superfluous, and what's essential, I'll give it a listen.

Well, shouldn't it be up to the kitchen staff as to what is needed? You are in the kitchen more than anyone else. You know what you use and what you don't use.

I'm the only member of the kitchen staff that's a warden. I've got wardens wanting jelly babies, inmates wanting brownies, wardens wanting apples...

If the decision is up to me, I'll just lock the fucking thing.

You don't cook with jelly babies- I hope. I really have no idea what they are. You don't have to have brownies. Apples are different. You can cook with them. So those could be rationed. Your cooking supplies- flour, sugar, oil, spices, those are essential.

But, if that is all too much to work out, maybe your original way would be easier. I'm just trying to save you some public outcry.

We've got more than one hundred people here. Someone's going to outcry either way.

That's true. You cannot please everyone. So you might as well use the system you think is fair. That way you can defend it when people begin to get upset.

If it helps, I think this is a logical solution.
