What part of your character's life do you like to write about most? What is it about it that makes it so interesting to explore?

Recently my attention has been most focused on his life after he leaves the Doctor on Sarn.

  • We know nothing about Turlough's life on Trion or about the civil war there or why he was exiled.
  • He chooses to go back reluctantly, probably because of his brother. It's clear that he doesn't know what he'll find there.
  • We don't know if Lomand is telling the truth when he says that they're no longer exiling political prisoners and I doubt if Turlough does either.
  • Malkon had time to grow up from an infant, but Turlough clearly was old enough to remember Trion, to be exiled separately from his father and to hold some sort of military rank and yet young enough that they considered a British boarding school an appropriate place for him. This implies that Turlough has skipped ahead a few years (maybe a decade), which might also give more time for a change in government.

Within that framework, there's a lot to work with. Are there other exiles on Earth? Was Turlough involved in the war himself or just a casualty of his parents' involvement? And what was his homecoming like? As I've completely rejected Turlough and the Earthlink Dilemma for a variety of reasons, I've started to build some backstory in my head to go along with the three bigbangs I'm writing this year that he's involved in, and come up with a vague framework for what Trion is like (that, to be honest, is a little too influenced by what I've been reading lately). I've started some fics, but haven't completed any of them, so I'm seeing a series of interlinked stories in my future.
