Haven't made a post in forever! but just want to talk about this song and singer. she's the new X-factor winner in my country and she's pretty damn young. I'm pretty into her song right now, it's really catchy. She's also got a pretty unique voice. She's actually one of those singers that can sing the lower registers as well as the higher ones and she actually carries the songs pretty well. like i'm by no way musical in any way, but as a casual listener, i notice a lot of singers, especially the onese that go on competitions, have this habit of kind of cruising through the lower/melody parts and then get really into it for the big chorusy bits. while that's all very well and good, the melody parts become kind of boring. but with her, i actually find that she covers the melodies well too.
i've watched a few of her other performances and i don't follow x-factor so i didn't know how the competition goes, but apparently the judges pick the songs for them? i didn't like a lot of the songs they picked for her. like i know everyone likes big songs to show off, but she's actually one of the ones that can really engage the audience with a song that's more emotional and less yelling. but anywho... i just hope she has a decent career just so i can listen to her songs!
as for last year's winner, dami im, she's a damn good singer and tbh, she's probably better than this girl, but her voice just doesn't stand out. i liked her debut song but i haven't like the ones that come after. I try to support artists from Aus...
