He gave me a library today.

I have to laugh when I see those words. It's absolutely unbelievable. But it's true.

He tries so hard to be a monster, to make me believe he doesn't care about anyone or anything. And I won't lie. Sometimes he succeeds. But then he does things like deliberately missing a shot with an arrow that literally can't miss, and he gives me the most impossible, perfect gift in the world.

Sometimes I do wonder what's truly in his heart. I feel like I should hate him for tearing me away from my home, and for all the horrible things he done. Listening to him torture poor Robin was...simply awful. But a monster wouldn't lure a maiden into his lair and then gift her with treasures. A beast wouldn't have let Robin and Marian live, all for the sake of an unborn babe. His eyes can be so full of hatred and loathing one moment, but then he looks like nothing so much as a lost little boy, starved for affection and warmth.

When I touched him...embraced him...it was like I'd handed him the sun, and he had no idea what to do with it.

He can hide under his silk and leather and prance around his castle, giggling like a madman, but for the first time, I think I saw the man beneath the mask.

And he was beautiful.

I came here to save my family and my friends, but now I wonder if perhaps there's someone else who needs me just as much...or more.
