"Mr. Gold, hi," Ruby said when she peered out from the dining room and saw him quietly come into the bed and breakfast. She knew he would be coming by sooner or later, she was just a little surprised he had chosen so much later. But then maybe he had decided to make his rounds after he closed his shop for the night.

"Hello, Ruby," he smiled. "Is your grandmother here, by chance?"

She shook her head as she came into the main room. "No. But I have her payment. Unless there's something else you needed her for?"

"Ah, no. Thank you."

Ruby gave a single nod and headed over to the welcome stand for the roll of money Granny had left for her to give him in the hope she wouldn't have to deal with him herself. Her head slightly bowed, Ruby tried not to make too much eye contact. True her grandmother was out and wouldn't be back for a while, but she knew it was better to not keep him longer than necessary. Particularly when Granny had made it clear she didn't want him to be there when she got back from the diner.

"Here ya go," Ruby told him as she handed it over to him.

"Thank you, dear," he replied with a small smile as his fingers leisurely brushed the back of her hand when he reached to claim his payment.

A soft sigh escaped Ruby's throat as the contact sent a charge through her. She knew he had done it on purpose. He did it far too often now for either of them to pretend to not know it as the deliberate move it was.

"You should really stop doing that," she told him, watching as he pocketed the cash.

"Stop what, Ruby?" He wasn't being coy, he just wanted to see if she would really say it. If she could really mean it.

"Aren't you supposed to be the adult? Or at least be the one to put it that way so the interested younger party doesn't get the wrong idea? Or get too attached?"

His smile became a smirk before he replied, "I can't help but notice, Ruby, that we are both adults. Also both capable of making our own choices and not having to answer to others' ideas of right or wrong in certain situations."

She walked back around from the stand to face him then. He didn't move away from her, didn't even blink. Almost as though he knew exactly what was coming. And why wouldn't he? It wasn't as though they hadn't done this dance before.

"Is this why you waited until now to come here? Knowing Granny would be out?" It was a dumb question, she knew, but she wanted his answer all the same.

"Your granny has made it quite clear she doesn't wish to deal with me when she does not have to. However her wish also seems to be to our benefit. That is, unless you would actually like for me to no longer either touch you or come here when she's away."

Ruby knew she should fight what she seemed to always feel in his presence. That she should stand her ground, tell him to go and afterwards repeat to herself that she was right to let him go for however long it took until she could make herself believe it. But instead she moved close and gently tangled her hands in his hair before telling him, "Right now I just want to stop talking."

"Are you sure?" He watched her move, letting his free hand slide around to the small of her back in response, knowing that hunger in her eyes all too well.

"Why not?" she asked, her eyes never leaving his. "It's not like Granny would come back to find the wolf in her bed."

"A wolf?" he smirked as he eyed Ruby's lips so close to his own. "Is that what she calls me?"

"On a good day," she answered quietly, fighting to keep from going in for the clearly impending kiss herself.

"Then perhaps we should head upstairs before she walks in to find us so close," he replied, wondering for a moment just how tempted she may have been to forgo her bedroom entirely in favor of the much closer dining room.

That temptation was there, certainly, but Ruby thought she hadn't let it show. But when they had finally reached her bedroom all she seemed to find herself saying was, "Never stop touching me."

Mr. Gold smiled as he went about granting her request as best he could, his lips at least never leaving hers or her body even as they undressed one another. From her lips to her neck, along her collarbone and down the valley between her breasts. Ruby reciprocated in kind, even when she could only grasp his hair or hands during his ministrations, knowing they might not have long before her granny got back from the diner and wanting to make what they had of the night count.

The next "stop" to come from Ruby was afterwards when Mr. Gold started reaching for his clothes. "Don't go," she added, her hand to his arm, her eyes staring up at him.

"You know I have to. We wouldn't want your granny to find the supposed wolf in your bed either." She nearly pouted and he leaned back in to kiss her. When he broke the kiss a moment later, he added, "However, you're welcome to join me tonight. We would be far less likely to have an audience at my home rather than here."

She agreed with a nod and later, after Granny had come back and Ruby knew she was asleep, she slipped out as she did most nights. It wasn't that Granny didn't know she spent her nights seemingly just about anywhere else, Ruby just knew it was better for her to not know exactly where she went or whose gold satin sheets she spent the majority of her nights wrapped in.
