She was still upset that her weekend plans had been busted up and that she couldn't have taken Sophia to meet her parents and Randall. The letter she had got that morning from her cousin brought a smile to her face. It was good to hear from him at least.
She pushed back a strand of her hair and fixed her short skirt. She loved her four inch heeled thigh high boots she was wearing that day. They helped her reach books from the higher bookselves in her classroom.
She pulled down a book that Randall got her for her birthday when she was a teenager. We have always lived in the castle by Shirley Jackson. The book title was like a silent joke between them, but yet not, at the same time. For then she was living as a student at Hogwarts, while he was growing up in the Myers mansion.
Odd, all those years that had past since he got her the book, and nothing much has changed. Since her split from Michael after his betrayel, she went back to Hogwarts to teach Muggles Studies. Randall was still living at that mansion. Again, they were still stuck in their 'castles'.
She ran her finger over the top of the book and thought of Randall, then of Sophia. She planned that day to pass the book down to Sophia. To her, after they refused to let Sophia out for the weekend to go to New York, she now thought that Sophia was stuck in the castle.
But taking Sophia to New York would have met taking her from one 'castle' to another. As she thought this, she walked over to her desk and set the book down, the poured herself a glass of pop and one for Sophia when she came in.
