I have a distinct memory of writing this up at some point - did you ask me and not get my response? Oh, memory.

Anyway. Kate and I did an interview (as did some other fat bloggers) for a reporter doing a story for the New York Times. That was in October. The story didn't run until January but the minute it did, we started getting agents and publishers nibbling at us - asking if we'd ever considered writing a book.

We HAD - in fact, we had a nearly complete book proposal. Kate finalized the last bits of the proposal and sent it around to a few of the people who had approached us and a few others that she knew about. She was in NYC, so she actually got to set up meetings in person with some people. There were three we were sort of really interested in, and then we narrowed it to two based on her interviews. I did a phone interview with both of them, and then we picked the one we wanted. Both were very interested in representing us but we went with Molly because, even though she was less experienced than the other agent (who was actually the person who had represented the Skinny Bitch books), she really GOT what we were saying, what our message was.

Re: biological parents, I have not. It's always been kind of a sore subject with my mom. I'm considering it though - my new therapist actually handles a lot of adoption issues and has a lot of contacts who would be useful if I decided to look. So... I'm thinking about it.

Australia: MAN, I want to go to the upcoming Fat Studies conference so bad. *grin* But really, if I were able to make the trip, what I'd want to do is hang out with the people I know. I think it'd be fascinating to spend some time outside getting to see the various landscapes and I'd love to do the typical touristy going to gape at the Sydney Opera House as well.
