OOC: This is referring to the 'verse with winchesterbitch and winchesterjerk where Madison's been brought back from the dead, though they're not really being used in this - just mentioned in passing (I hope that's okay with both muns!). This is not necessarily binding to RP, but bits of this piece refer to past scenes.
When they've realized that the danger of her still being infected is past and Madison's allowed to sleep without the door barricaded from the outside, she realizes how much she doesn't want to think about what the next step is. After they've solved her problem, gotten to the bottom of it, found out who brought her back and why, she doesn't know what she wants to do next.
Staying in San Francisco is obviously out of the question and the more she lets her mind stray to thoughts of the not-as-distant-as-she'd-like future, the more she realizes that returning to life as she knew it might be, too. This isn't the witness protection program, this isn't getting a new start on life after a bad break-up or quitting a terrible job, this is coming back from the dead and starting over with new knowledge of what's really happening in the world and she's not so sure she can just pretend that it doesn't exist.
Sam and Dean have both brought up that she can start over, do whatever she wants, be whoever she wants, but she doesn't want to. It had taken years for her to start liking herself, she doesn't want to pretend to be somebody else.
Madison hasn't discussed other possibilities of what she could do with either of them, hasn't really wanted to find out what they think she should do, what they want to do when this is over. It's entirely possible that they'll never want to see her again and she can't blame them if they don't. But since she can't ignore or forget what's happened to her, what's happening around her, what she wants is to help.
She doesn't think what she wants will go over well with either of them and she's not entirely sure what she can do. But she refuses to sit by and watch the world end when there's a possibility that she can do some good for them.
