George is wrapped in his coat, tapping on Will's door. He was stupid and left his flat the previous night in his shirtsleeves and trousers. He felt odd calling on someone without his jacket and tie... His nose is sore and his cheek hurts. He just hopes it doesn't look too bad. He doesn't think Will'll like seeing them much.

Will came down the stairs and opened the door on the third tap. "Hey ... woah." George was a state. "Come here," and Will gripped his wrist, drew him in the door and kicked it closed.

"You're a mess. Baby, what happened?" he smoothed a finger very gently over George's face. "That looks nasty."

George blinked in non-comprehension. He was waiting for the yelling. None came. A little grin spread over his face.

"Ahhh 's nuthin. Had a bit of a run in last night. You know how we pale lads get, all red and puffy... See I got a letter from someone and it made me angry so I went off to the pub. Then there was a bit of an altercation, so I er... kept the peace till the local lads arrived..." He tried not to look too guilty. "I feel a bit better now though. Some ice wouldn't go amiss though."

He made a big eyed, hopeful face.

"Maybe with some scotch in it?"

"It's not nothing," Will turned George's face to the light and squinted at his eye. It was nasty and puffy. His cheek was bruised, lip swollen just a little. Will sighed softly and leant in to place a kiss on the damaged lip.

"Come on then you," Will took his hand and drew him into the livingroom, making him sit down on the couch, kissing his hair as he walked away. "Scotch and ice pack coming up. Just get warm."

George huddled into his coat. The chill had gone right through him. He sat rubbing his arms and watching Will's arse as he walked away. Thin, but that could be fixed. His fingers trailed along his lip and he chuckled to himself. He was enjoying Will's petting. He could feel the affection and that was such the change from Jack...

He didn't want to break the mood, as such but he desperately wanted to talk to him about Lois.

Will came back through and switched the fire on, waiting until he could feel the heat against his legs before he handed a glass of whiskey, full and ready to heat the bones up, to George. Then he took his coat away and wrapped the throw from the back of the couch around his shoulders.

"Now what made you go looking for a fight?" he asked, pressing the ice pack gently to George's face. There was some heat coming from it. "Because that doesn't sound like you. I know you get enough of that at work." His other hand brushed hair softly away from George's face.

"Its not so much that I looked for it, I'm just grateful it happened near me at a lucky time."

George's fingers wrapped around Will's wrist and stroked him. He smiled brightly at him.
"You're very nice to me. I like it. Makes a real change... I hate to stick this on you but ... well... the reason I was out was because I got a letter from Lois. The thing really upset me. I just... just didn't know what to do." He shrugged and leaned back into the cushions. He sipped at his whisky and felt a great deal of his tension drain away.

Will moved his wrist until he held George's hand in his, soft strokes with his thumb, making little circles. "I'm nice to you because I like you. A lot. I'm actully ... really pissed off that you've been treated so roughly."

He frowned, listening to George. "Well next time," he squeezed his hand, "But there better not be a next time ... you come to me, huh? If anything gets to you, come to me. 'm here for you."

George stops mid sip and stares at Will. He puts the glass down on the coffee table as a big beaming grin takes over his face. When Lois had said the same to him, he hadn't believed her, but when Will said it, he did. In spite of himself.

"You do mean that... I.. I don't know what to say... Thank you."

He looks deep into Will's eyes and knows he's hearing the truth. He finds himself leaning closer to Will, until their lips are almost meeting.

"Of course I mean that and you don't have to thank me, it's my pleasure ..." and it really was. Will leaned in that half an inch and brushed his lips over George's. Even the slight swelling on his lip was as baby soft as the rest of George Carter. Will decided that he could get very used to that softeness.

And the kiss deepened, George tasting of whiskey and something deeper than that. When it broke apart Will was left feeling, again, like they weren't close enough. "You want to stay the night? I really don't want you going home in this state. If you've got work I can drop you off in the morning," if they got up. Which was looking doubtful.

George turns pink, again.

"I'd like to stay... yes. I've actually just finished. Piles of reports and case preparation. I hate paperwork." He frowns a bit. "You always get stuck doing that? Don't think Jack knows how to hold a pen..."

He nervously runs his tongue over his lip. "Will, I really need to talk to someone about Lois. Is that OK? Charlie hates her, and Kurt has enough to do with Lorne... I hate to burden you but... Her letter's hurt me something terrible and well, you've seen how I deal with stuff like this on my own... badly..."

He laughs bitterly and shaked his head.

"Well there's a side of the bed with your name on it." Will groaned, "Paper work is the bane of my existence. Jack's never done a sheet in his life. It automatically gets redirected to my desk." He rolled his eyes, "I should write a research paper on men called Jack in the forces. I'd make a bundle."

Will stroked George's cheek and then leant back, against the arm of the couch, still stroking George's fingers with his own. "Of course it's all right. Don't be afriad to come to me." He sighed softly, "I didn't deal well on my own either but you're not on your own. Go on, I'm listening."
