snakes and confessions

Well, today, I am finally getting "settled in" for our temporary stay at my dfolk's farm. We have been having a great time out here. DS loves the sandbox and playing with tractors, re-planting the weeds we've pulled, and moving dgrandpa's cheese! DD loves choosing dgrandma over me, and looking in cupboards, plus she loves turning the TV off for whoever is watching it.

DH and DDad are bonding over the riding lawnmower. And I'm miss butterfingers, as I've already broken one of my mom's mixing bowls as I'm trying to earn my keep around here.

We saw a genuine rattlesnake (they are somewhat of a legend most of the time) yesterday on our way home, about 1.5 miles north of the house. We stopped the van next to it and let everyone get a "good look" so DS would know what to keep his eyes open for. I think that was a good reminder for all of us grown-ups too.

So, our moving from Yakima brought on a confession by DH. He found a snakeskin in our yard there. Now that we've moved, he was able to tell me about it. He said he thought I would've freaked out if I had known. I'm guessing he was right! He's been keeping that secret for two years!

I think that's enough for now.
