Megan, are you okay? Well. Not okay. Are you doing all right?

[She pauses again, not sure how to answer that.]

I'm alive. That's all I've got right now.

[There's a long pause. Alex sighs eventually. He sounds very tired when he answers.]

You never get used to bad stuff happening to people you love. Not from what I can tell.

[She starts to say something else, but stops, and there's another moment of silence before she speaks again.]

[She's got a feeling it did based on their earlier conversations.]
