I understand. Have you found a new place yet? [Meaning she needs to know where you are before she can come over.]

I have. Community housing seven, fourth floor, room twenty.

I'll be there in a minute.

[She Apparates to the right building, bottom floor, and then proceeds to climb the stairs and knock on his door when she finds the right one.]

[The minute he hears Hermione's knock on the door, he walks right over and pulls it open.]

Thanks for coming over, Hermione.

Of course. [She offers a smile as she steps in.] Is something wrong?

[onceaprisoner]

No, nothing's wrong. [He moves to one side as she walks in, and then continues.] It's just that I haven't heard much from Harry, and I wanted to make sure everything was all right.

[She sighs a little bit.]

That would be because the Malnosso took him and he only recently returned home. We were trying to keep it quiet so that Riddle and Snape didn't find out about it. He's back now, though. He'll be fine soon enough.

[He looks a bit worried at this piece of news.]

I shouldn't have missed that, even if you were trying to keep it quiet.

[Why yes, someone's thinking maybe he's a failure as a godfather.]

Well, with you looking after him, I guess I'm not too worried.

[Said with a bit of false bravado..]

I missed it and I live with him. [She looks a little disgusted with herself at this] It's not your fault. The Malnosso just choose people they want to experiment on and no matter how much we try to stop them, we're no match for them.

[onceaprisoner]

[He stares at her, frowning.] It's different, Hermione. I'm his godfather; I'm supposed to look after him.

[He looks away.] His parents would be disappointed.

[She's about to protest, but the mention of his parents catches her off-guard.]

Sirius, they wouldn't. I know they would understand.

[Oh this will be awkward if he doesn't know Lily's here.]

[He looks up again and stares at her for a moment before slowly nodding.]

You're right, Hermione, they would. But I still should've kept an eye on him.

[He'd rather not be reminded of that right now, because regardless of what he says, he does blame himself, at least partially.]
