Summary: Arthur learns even in bleak times there can be light.
Author’s notes: I hope you enjoy and please forgive errors! I also started writing this before episode five, but I finished it after the episode aired. Hopefully the retrofit works!

It was as if sunlight followed her wherever she went. She had certainly been a brightness in his life, and Arthur wondered how he’d ever let their relationship falter for so long. It had seemed one moment he’d been shadowing her as she did chores with her mother and father and the next he could barely remember her name.
Guinevere. Everyone had always called her Gwen, but he’d wanted to be different.
Her mother, Melanie, had called her Guinevere, too; maybe that was why he had stopped, because her mother wasn’t there anymore, and she’d been his mother too since his had died when he’d been born. Perhaps in his grief, too awesome for his ten-year-old self to fully negotiate, he'd stayed away from Guinevere because she reminded him too much of Melanie.
Tanta Melanie, she’d told him to call her, but he’d often say yaa* when he was alone.
( He’d been jealous of Guinevere. )
