I was typing a sentence. In OSX, switching over to Chinese is easy, and you just type in pinyin and choose the character you want from the options you're given. (I use Windows at home, where I can do this but sometimes it doesn't quite work right. I don't know why, it's probably me.)
Recently my office computer was upgraded to the latest OSX (Lion). The popup is now suggesting little hearts for xǐhuan (which can mean "like" or "love")...
