how many words are too many

May 17, 2012 10:47

I don't know how many new words a week would be enough to keep moving, but not so much that I forget them all.

This week's collected vocabulary list: 33 words, 1 phrase (一见钟情)

This week the nouns win, with 19 words.

Several of these are words I've already learned, but apparently need to learn again because I'd forgotten them. Like 乐器 (musical instrument) and 毕业 (to graduate).

This is probably not enough. Tingting has told me (and I agree completely) that right now my problem isn't listening comprehension as such, but just that I still don't know enough words. This came up again when I was speaking with Xizi the other day. I could pretty much follow her except for words I didn't know.

I'd be learning a lot faster if I lived in a city in China, of course, but I can't do that. I do think I could probably learn more words a week than I am, but hmm, by cutting down on my drama watching, and that's not going to happen :)
