Linghu Chong is having a bad year. One event after another makes him look suspicious, especially in the eyes of a suspicious individual like Yue Buqun who sees the world in only black and white. Now an old maker of bamboo rakes hands him a guqin in front of everyone, then gets away using magic (I'm going to call it that). Linghu Chong looks puzzled (he does this a lot). Yue Buqun just stares at him with his Suspicion Glare.
Episodes 14 and 15 were quite nice, actually. LHC lies in a field amidst the hissing of wind. He visits the old man and the "granny" behind the veil. He finds a home for Xiao Ao Jianghu. He learns to play. Two people are raked with jealousy.
I pretty much think that's Ren Yingying, and I'm loving her appearance as two characters that LHC can't tell are the same person even though it's totally obvious. It's very interesting how they move in and out of each other's orbit in this part of the story. And LHC voicing his thoughts about the two factions. His view is the opposite of Yue Buqun's moral absolutism: people of the "good" and "evil" groups can coexist. After all, Qu Yang and Liu Zhengfeng created the most beautiful music he's ever heard.
My ears are understanding the dialog better... not great, but a little better. I don't know what's changed. I can't tell what words they're using for what the subtitles call the "Righteous Party", though the other side sounds like 魔教 mó jiào. 魔 has 21 strokes and seems to mean everything from evil spirit or evil influence to magic power. 教 is like religion or teaching.
RYY (behind the veil): "What would you do if you met someone from mojiao?"
LHC: "I don't know."
Yue Buqun would answer: "Kill her immediately."
There seem to be good and bad people on both sides, though I suppose I'm a bit biased at this point because I haven't yet seen the evil side slaughter a family for no reason.
I've seen a spoiler scene, so I know LHC is going to be taking his own journey at some point.
