Vampire Prosecutor 1

Let's start with our vampire mythos:
* sunlight: fine
* mirrors: I can see him
* blood: drinks it in a wine glass
* cool: of course he is, he's a vampire

He's a vampire who prosecutes, though he doesn't seem to prosecute vampires. Yet.

Now we're set. I don't watch a lot of modern police dramas, really, but I do know that this jerky editing style has been the thing for several years. Still, I had trouble figuring out what's going on in the beginning. Two cars and a truck. One of the drivers is hooded and cloaked, amusingly so. I was kind of lost.

Moving on, I'm actually kind of enjoying the performances here. The touch of 1970s cop show guitar music was kind of awesome. The writing was a little unimaginative, though. Someone's trying to make a death look like a vampire bite, and they use (dum dum DUM) a barbecue fork. Yes, that's an old one.

But there were scenes that made me laugh.

Vampire Prosecutor raises an eyebrow and thinks dramatically, "Its the smell of blood!"
Me: "In a doctor's office? Get out!"

I love that Bumbling Grizzled Guy returns to the children to try questioning them again, and overhears the girl say "I didn't like that man earlier. He looked weird."

I wasn't sure about the new prosecutor, Yoo Jung-In, but then (as part of an investigation) she begins to attack a mannequin head with a test weapon. "All right," she says, "let's see who wins." I like her.

A suspect being questioned looks at herself in the mirror, brushing her hair with her fingers. Which is totally what you do to avoid suspicion when you're being questioned. Strangely, it didn't work.

Nighttime. Vampire Prosecutor flicks his lighter on a rooftop overlooking the city, as you do, and asks "What do you desire, Prosecutor Yoo Jung-In?"

"I desire to know all about you, mysterious lighter-flicking man." (not her exact words)

He pats her shoulder and walks away, because vampires are patronizing jerks.

"He totally blew me off." she says. Yes, he did.

What vampire bar does not play techno music? We wouldn't want him to feel uncomfortable, so techno plays as he drifts among the people. A host offers him blood in a wine glass. At this point I was having flashbacks to LaCroix in Forever Knight.

There is cheese here, but there's kind of supposed to be (Vampire Prosecutor!), and it was an enjoyable 48 minutes. I'll probably watch episode 2.

forever knight, vampire prosecutor
