Rumor Gal Cabin Living Room - Thursday Evening

Jul 10, 2009 07:43

Merlin and Francine had handled the food. They'd even been so kind as to make special brownies for everyone with Chuck's oregano. The cabin living room was Edmund's work, with a low-set table in the middle for everyone to sit around on the floor. Now all that was needed was the attendees.

[OOC: For Rumor Gal cabinmates and their guests!]

sam winchester, rumor gal, hannibal king, robin the frog, arthur pendragon, merlin, cabin meal, francine peters, chuck bass

It all looked very nice if you asked Merlin. He was hovering about over the brownies to make sure they were being eaten. He helped bake those!

...it was a big thing for him.

"Very good brownies, Merlin," Edmund said enthusiastically.

"You've had one?" Merlin clearly had if the insanely cheerful expression was anything to go by.

"Oh yes. They're the best." Chuck was right. They really were the best. "Did you know you could make the best brownies?"

"I do?" Oh Em Gee, Merlin was far too proud. He leaned forward as if to share a secret, but failed to lower his voice. "Francine helped."

"Francine is the best," Edmund nodded with a very serious expression on his face. "You're very lucky. Very, very lucky. I don't have a Francine."

"We could share!" There was a pause before Merlin thought better of it. "But you shouldn't share Francines. They're non--sharey."

"That wouldn't be fair," Edmund agreed, shaking his head. "But you're a very good man for offering. I probably shouldn't be finding my own Francine anyway, even if I wanted one, because someone needs to have a state marriage and it might as well be me." No, he wasn't making much sense now.

"NOOooooooo," Merlin replied, shaking his head as though that was completely unacceptable. "Everyone ought to marry for love. Even kings. Especially kings."

"Maybe I will love whoever I marry," he said, thinking hard about it. "But Narnia has to come first, and it makes a lot of political sense to get alliances." He looked panicked all of a sudden. "I don't want to marry a giantess though, no matter how much it would stop them attacking the northern border."

"...how would you marry a giantess?"

Yes, he was trying to puzzle through the--er--logistics of such a match.

"I would imagine she might need a listening trumpet to hear the vows," he thought aloud. "But you never know," he said, changing areas, "we might get through the Western Wilds one day and meet a new nation of very good looking people of human size who might want to marry off a Princess. A Princess Francine." He could hope anyway. "But I don't think I'll get to marry for love. Peter got to marry from love. I have to do the sensible thing instead."

"Princess Francine." Merlin giggled. "I--" Remember your words, Merlin. "--I don't think your people would begrudge you a match for love if you are a good king."

He was a bit naive on this matter still.

"Probably not," he nodded in agreement, "but they're not very sensible at home. That's why they have me. I'm the sensible one, the sensible one who makes the sensible decisions. I'm very good at it." And oh so modest.

"Sensible," Merlin added helpfully. "You ought to always have one about. But it's not fun. And all you do is deal with magical tarts."

"Yes! That's it exactly!" Why yes, Edmund had just referred to Willow as a magical tart. "They're always complicating things when all you want is to be able to do your job and be sensible and make other people be sensible and fair."
