To say that Edmund had been busy since his return to Narnia would be an understatement. All of it was of his own choosing, of course. He had been away so long, too long really, and he had plenty of catching up to do.
There had been riding and paperwork and correspondence with foreign dignitaries and working with the others planning for winter.
The fire in the fireplace crackled and his window rattled lightly from a chilly wind outside. By lamplight, Edmund sat at his desk. His pen scratched against the paper.
Dear Jo,
My apologies for not writing more often. With winter coming, there's plenty to do. We have to put on a good show for reassurance and to calm the nervousness that comes with the first frost.
I tried to put together an expedition to explore the west before winter, but decided it was best to wait until the snow starts to melt before heading through the mountains. This might mean I can join the expedition next year. I am not eager to leave Narnia so soon, but it is my idea and I will not send anyone out to do something that I would not do myself.
How are your classes? Sometimes time in Narnia passes differently than there, so forgive any discrepancies. I can only assume that you have not yet graduated and moved on to a fledgling career as a museum curator.
I hope you are well. It has been too long since we have spoken.
My best to Jet.
Edmund
