The time had come to go home, go finally back to Narnia after a long, long two years away.  But as much as Peter had been waiting for this day, now that it was here, he was almost ready to put it off, to wait until the end of the summer and see where the moving island would take them all.

On his way back to his own alcove after work, Bridge can't help but notice the signs of the dreaded packing-up-to-leave.

"Leaving already?" he asks with a frown.

"It's been two years," Peter pointed out. "That's not quite already." He smiled a bit sadly though. "Wishing I didn't have to."

[bridge_carson]

"Well, I meant in terms of summer's barely even started," Bridge says. "Seems like everyone I know is leaving before I do." He can't help but smile a bit himself, though, when he catches sight of the shield on the bed, remembering the first time he'd seen it in, er... action. Of a sort.

"There didn't seem to be much point in staying longer once Graduation came by," Peter explained. "I flatter myself my country needs me." He followed Bridge's gaze to the shield and grinned. "Seems an age since I first used that here."

And, okay, Bridge could understand that, since he knows all too well that the situation in his own reality could change at any minute, putting his squad on active duty. "I suppose you won't be using it on waterslides back home," he says, grinning back.

"Somehow I doubt it," Peter said, grinning back. "And hopefully my armsmaster will never hear of that."

[bridge_carson]

"Not from me, at least," Bridge promises.

[once_a_king]

"It's appreciated, Bridge," Peter said seriously. "When will you be leaving the island?"

[bridge_carson]

"Hopefully? The end of the summer," Bridge says. "It all depends on the situation at home, though. Ilandria's forces are holding up well for the moment, but if they fall... Earth is next on Gruumm's list, and Z and I could be called back to join the rest of our squad."

"I hope you get as much time here as possible," Peter said quietly.

[bridge_carson]

"Me too," Bridge says. "Xander's coming with me, at least," not that Command knew that yet, but details. "We've had more than enough of being split up by time and circumstance."

Peter broke into a grin. "Truly? I'm so happy for you both. You've had more than most will ever. Im glad there's not more yet."

[bridge_carson]

"And I'm definitely glad you and Willow won't have to deal with that either," Bridge replies.

"Thankfully she doesn't hate Narnia," Peter said.

[bridge_carson]

"It's nice how these things work out," Bridge agrees with a smile.

"Hopefully it'll still work out well in a year or two."
