"I think you're right," Peter agreed, smiling affectionately back. "And if we don't? We really ought to."

"Absolutely," Willow said. "This gets my vote. Which is going to be really nice for us if it turns out we are married."

"Or perhaps we were sent here by our parents who need an alliance between our countries, but they wish us to know each other first," Peter postulated wildly.

"Which would explain the differing accents!" Willow said, excited that a piece of this puzzle now fit. "You know? You could be right there. Either that or maybe we were naughty and snuck off so we could get to know each other, because being married to somebody you've never met is a little on the silly side, even if our parents think otherwise."

"Do you feel like a princess?" Peter asked.

Willow opened her mouth to answer, stopped, then shook her head. "No. Should I? This doesn't seem like a princessy outfit, but I suppose I could be in disguise. Which would make it a really good disguise because I'm even fooling myself."

Peter looked down at himself. "No, this doesn't seem like the right type of outfit either." He reached in his pockets and pulled out two emerald green rings. "These seem familiar somehow though."

Willow came over to look at them. "You got our wedding rings all tarnished??"

"It's not tarnish," he said, feeling strangely comfortable at her nearness. "Look at them, they're emerald or some such."

"Oh," Willow said as she got a better look at them. "You're right. My apologies. Oh! Maybe you picked that color because it would go good with red hair? In which case that was very nice of you."

"I would hope to be so thoughtful," Peter replied, looking at the hair in question. "But I don't think it's the case. I think it's...I don't know. Don't they seem familiar to you?"

"Little bit," Willow admitted. "You know how when you have a dream and then you wake up and you can't exactly remember the dream but during the day little stuff makes you go 'Huh' because it reminds you of it? Kind of like that."

"Yes, exactly," Peter said. And before he could stop himself, he reached out to touch her hair. Realising what he was doing, he blushed and turned his attention back to the rings. "Maybe they're connected to the gold rings?"

"We could try to put them together and see what happens," Willow said, looking quietly pleased at his blush.

Peter took off the gold ring he was wearing and held it in his palm with the other two. Exactly nothing happened.
