I had absolutely no plans for my birthday other than some power-leveling for my gnome rogue, Minovsky, but Bup and Kat called, inviting me for sushi at Kikugawa on Main Street in Northeast. We had a great lunch, although now I know the difference between anago and unagi, and will continue to order unagi from this point onward.
Then we went to Ed and Kaylea's, where I got my birthday wish of drinking rum and playing Guitar Hero 2 until my fingers hurt. Kaylea made chicken and steak fajitas, and we all dined while listening to Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" play in a loop, as I'd left the game on.
After dinner it was game time, and we played Scattergories until Ed demanded we have cake and open the present that he and Kaylea got me. First the cake:

As you can see, I'm sporting the "Mandeville mullet": business in the back, emo in the front. As for the decorations, the only time of year Ed can creatively insult me is January 7th, and he relishes spelling naughty words with candy letters.
I was surprised that they got me a present, and thrilled when I opened it to discover a pair of hockey skates! Some of you know my love for ice skating, and now I have no reason not to visit the local rinks. It was a fantastic and thoughtful present, and I hope they know how much I appreciate their gesture.
I left shortly after, and then received a call from two-thirds of the nimbus theatre company, Josh and Cockroach, inviting me to the Spring Street Tavern for a few pints.
I had a fantastic birthday, thanks to friends who care about me.
