New Coach

Michigan has hired a new football coach. His name is Brady Hoke. He was an assistant here under Lloyd Carr and had the head coaching jobs at Ball St. He comes to us from the head coaching position at San Diego St. Overall, he has a losing record, but he had some good seasons at Ball St. Also, remember that Gene Chizik was 5-19 at Iowa St. before coming to Auburn and winning a national championship this year. I think this is a good hire. Unlike Dick-Rod, Hoke has Michigan ties. We will see what happens starting next year. Kathy and I went to the UMich basketball game last night against Ohio St. Michigan trailed for almost the entire game, but stayed within a few points until Ohio St. pulled away in the 2nd half. Michigan made a comeback, but ended up losing by a score of 68-64. Ohio St. is ranked No.2 in the country, so the loss is not a surprise. At least they kept it close. The offense was good, but they couldn't seem to ever stop Ohio St. on defense. Michigan is now 11-6 overall on the season and 1-3 in the Big Ten. They also haven't beaten any ranked teams yet. They still have a very good chance to get into the NCAA tournament, but they need wins against Big Ten teams and ranked teams.
